As a Rapper, Producer & Visual Artist, Carey Fountain combines his talents to challenge the human perspective and encourage individuality.
“In a fast-paced society, full of misinformation and contradictions I made the platform to encourage self-awareness and individuality,” says Fountain. “I believe too many people in this world follow the pack out of fear of being made outcasts. Social media has made people more concerned with how their life looks in the eyes of other people instead of trying to build their own beliefs, ideologies, and happiness.”
DoReMe is a content aggregating platform and community outreach initiative dedicated to creating a community of artists, musicians and intellectuals. Fountain founded the platform to encourage free thought and self-expression.
Signup is free on the website and for every comment/opinion/assertion left on any content earns the user $0.25 which can accumulate to buy things for free from the web store. DoReMe encourages
“My inspiration behind the project was to encourage people to understand the value of their voice and opinions. By allowing people to essentially get paid to be themselves, I believe it will contribute to a better world by inspiring people to be comfortable with speaking their mind. No opinion is wrong if one can justify it, it is okay to agree to disagree.”
As an artist Fountain likes to speak on the intricacies in life. The small things that seemingly get overlooked, the perplexities that get forgotten and the contradictions that mainstream society portrays as okay.
“I try to express myself in all areas. I began with music as a kid, and as I got older I started realizing how art is a facet of everything
Fountain believes art is seeking understanding by being willing to let yourself be free of any constraints society, yourself, or the naysayers may try to put on you.
“All an artist does is follow their curiosity. Sometimes it comes out amazing sometimes not so much, but a great artist doesn’t get discouraged by that instead the complete opposite.
“Individuality is powerful.”
“So as long as boundaries are getting pushed, questions are being asked, and people begin to get comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone; then I think Birmingham will continue to be great in the next 5, 10, and 15 years from now.
According to Fountain, an artist’s job is to inspire and tell their truth.
“People get too caught up on whether art or a song is pushing a negative message or a positive one but you need negative to have positive and vice versa. An artist is never perfect but it is through these imperfections true beauty arises because that is how our universe works. They get too caught up on trying to find the answers, instead of embracing the mystery.
“You were never meant to know everything and the moment you think you do, you already took 10 steps back.”
